Allegations Surface Against Mohamed Al Fayedâs Brother

It is reported in the national press (but strongly denied) Ali Fayed, the younger brother of the late Mohamed Al Fayed, has been accused of sexual assault by three former employees of Harrods. The alleged incidents are said to have taken place in the 1990s, during Fayedâs tenure as a director of the iconic London department store.

A spokesperson for Ali Fayed, 81, has strongly denied the allegations, stating:

[He] unequivocally denies any and all allegations of wrongdoing. The alleged incidents simply never occurred. Mr Fayed is not a perpetrator and will not be scapegoated. He will robustly defend himself against these unsubstantiated claims and will not allow false accusations to go unchallenged.”

Background and Connection to Mohamed Al Fayed

Ali Fayed, along with his brothers Mohamed and Salah, played a key role in running Harrods before the business was sold. His late brother, Mohamed Al Fayed, who passed away in 2023 at the age of 94, has also faced serious allegations of sexual abuse.

Following the release of the BBC documentary Al Fayed: Predator at Harrods, numerous women have come forward with allegations of sexual harassment, assault, and rape against Mohamed Al Fayed. The police have confirmed that 111 women have accused him of sexual offences. However, the Crown Prosecution Service has opted not to pursue charges, despite receiving evidence from police on two separate occasions.

Allegations Against Ali Fayed

According to a BBC report, three women have accused Ali Fayed of sexual assault during his tenure overseeing both Harrods and the House of Fraser group.

One of the accusers claims she was sexually assaulted by both Mohamed and Ali Fayed. She alleges that Ali Fayed abused her at his office and apartment in 60 Park Lane, London, beginning with forced kisses and escalating to molestation.

Another accuser, who worked as Mohamed Al Fayed’s personal assistant for nearly three years, alleges that she was subjected to sexual abuse throughout her employment at Harrods, culminating in an attempted rape during a work trip to Paris.

A third woman has also come forward, stating that Ali Fayed subjected her to a serious sexual assault.

Additionally, one of the accusers describes an incident at a swimming pool while working as Ali Fayed’s assistant in Switzerland. She claims that he pulled her underwater and groped her, leaving her feeling trapped and terrified.

Ali Fayedâs Business Interests and Resignation

Ali Fayed, who is now based in the United States, co-owns the luxury British shirtmaker Turnbull & Asser with his sons. However, he resigned as a director of the company on December 8, 2024.

While he continues to deny all allegations, the case has sparked renewed scrutiny of the Fayed family and their influence. The accusations against both Ali and Mohamed Al Fayed add to an already controversial legacy, raising further concerns about past misconduct within their business empire.
