David Sullivan has resigned as a director and co chairman of West Ham United following the publication of a joint investigation by The Times investigation and BBC Panorama investigation.

According to the reports, a number of women have made allegations concerning Mr Sullivan’s conduct dating back several decades. The allegations relate to periods before his involvement with West Ham United and concern his previous business activities.

Mr Sullivan has publicly and categorically denied all allegations made against him. Reports indicate that he disputes the allegations and intends to challenge them through legal channels.

At the time of writing, no court has made any findings against Mr Sullivan in relation to the matters reported, and no criminal convictions have been reported arising from the allegations contained within the investigation.

In a statement regarding his resignation, Mr Sullivan said he wished to avoid becoming a distraction to West Ham United while responding to the allegations.

The investigation has attracted significant media attention and has generated public discussion regarding historic allegations of misconduct, safeguarding and accountability. However, it is important to emphasise that the allegations reported by The Times and Panorama are disputed by Mr Sullivan and remain allegations.
