Car sales rise in Europe however sales of VW stall
The number of cars sold in Europe significantly increased in the month of March however, according to the times, however VW sales again stalled as a result of the emissions scandal. The figures were released by the European Automobile Manufacturers’ Association underlined the scale of the challenge VW face in the wake of multiple law suits in the US and Europe.
While sales in Europe jumped by almost 8%, VW sales dropped by 1.6%, whilst its share of the European Car Market dropped to a five-year low. It was the only one of the top European car makers to slump.
This latest disclosure comes nearly eight months after the German car company admitted they had fitted vehicles with software designed to cheat diesel emissions tests. There has been a worldwide including 1.2 million cars in Britain. There has also been recalls of Audi’s, Skoda’s and Seat’s.
