Deal with US regulators and car owners in wake of VW emissions scandal
According to The Guardian Volkswagen have agreed to pay owners between $5,000 and $10,000 by either repairing or buying back cars that have been affected by the emissions scandal. The deal is believed to toal $15bn dollars with VW being ordered by the US govenment to pay in to an environmental fund operated by the Enviornmental Protection Agency. The actual amount that it will cost VW in total will be speculation until it is decided how many vehicles
The finer details of the deal are not yet thought to be published, this deal comes off the back of an order made by the court in the US for VW to compensate US car owners whose cars were fitted with the cheat device that gave out false emissions readings.
