US States planning to sue VW following Emissions Scandal

According to the BBC three US states have taken legal action against VW in the wake of the emissions scandal. The three states that have issued legal proceeding against the German Car manufacturer are New York, Massachusetts and Maryland. New York’s Attorney General who deals with all legal matters on behalf of the state has called the emissions scandal a “widespread conspiracy” according to the BBC article on their website. The reason that the three states have decided to take legal action is due to the environmental issues surrounding the emissions output on the vehicles.

Although VW have come to an agreement with US regulators to compensate drivers whose cars were affected by the emissions scandal there has still been no remissions for car owners in the UK. This has been heavily criticised by MP’s in a recent transport select committee meeting. At R James Hutcheon Solicitors we are in correspondence with the representatives of VW in the UK and we are fighting to see UK drivers compensated.
