Subject: Vending machine firm fined after worker falls through fragile roof
A 40 year old worker had a lucky escape when he had an accident at work.
The work place accident happened when the man was cleaning out the gutters between two connected buildings when he fell six metres through the roof light in to offices below.
As a result, he suffered bruising to his right side and leg, and injuries to his right hand and back.
It was later reported that the company, which supplies snacks and drinks for vending machines across the UK, had failed to ensure he could work safely on the roof.
The company was fined £10,000 and ordered to pay £3,500.
