At around 2pm, an on-duty police officer was riding a police motorcycle when he collided with a silver BMW car outside a Shell petrol station.

The driver of the BMW car, a thirty-five year old man, sustained serious but not life threatening injuries. However, the officer riding the motorbike was pronounced dead on his arrival to hospital shortly after the accident.
