Newcastle goalkeeper Tim Krul is facing a lengthy spell out due to ligament damage which he sustained during international duty.

Krul was on the bench for the Netherlands 2-1 win against Kazakhstan but suffered his injury a day later in training.

A statement released of the clubs website read “Newcastle United have received the results of goalkeeper Tim Krul’s scan on Monday.

“It showed ligament damage to his left elbow and Krul will be assessed further by the Magpies’ medical staff ahead of Saturday’s Barclays Premier League fixture against Leicester City.”
