A young male of twenty five was cleaning the inside of a machine when it started unexpectedly. When cleaning the machine he was standing on rollers and when the machine started the rollers pulled on his leg causing injury at work. He was cleaning the machine so new fibers would not get mixed with old fibers. It was thought that the rollers were on a safety lock as employees were informed that the lock would not move when the door was open. The investigation carried out had shown that the safety precautions were in place but because regular checks had not been undertaken it caused a young man to suffer an injury at work. The company were ordered to pay a fine of £8,000.
