Two motorcyclists were rushed to hospital after coming off their motorbikes.
The accident happened when Police received reports of a horse on the loose on a busy motorway. Hundreds of motorists were left trapped for more than five hours.
Frustrated drivers had to patiently wait as officers searched for the the runaway horse. After the long wait, as the traffic regained speed, two motorcycles were seen surging forward. Suddenly, the traffic came to an abrupt halt, causing the motorcyclists to collide.
The two were rushed to hospital, where sadly one died, the other surviving was described as in ’serious’ condition.
The stretch of road has now been reduced from 70mph limit to 50mph.
