A four year old child has been sadly fatally injured after a mantlepiece at her home fell off the wall and crushed her. The fireplace had been bought by the child’s father off eBay, which he glued onto the family’s wall himself.
It is believed that the fireplace became loose when the child was swinging on it and fell on top of her. The stone and marble piece was heavy enough to crush the young child, leaving her fatally injured.
Today a coroner warned parents of the dangers of DIY which kills ‘one child a year’.
