Flight delay compensation- Virgin Atlantic Airways
A Virgin Atlantic Airways aircraft was hit with a 9 hour flight delay, when the aircraft departing from London Gatwick and arriving in Chicago was believed to be suffering a fault within the aircrafts engine.
Passengers were already on board the aircraft when the fault began to occur. Passengers were escorted from the Virgin Atlantic aircraft and were told to wait within the terminal and Virgin Atlantic airways representatives will keep passengers updated.
After approximately 6 hours of waiting around passengers was given refreshments and snacks vouchers and was told that the airline is doing its best to get the flight on its way to their arrival airport.
The flight was due to depart at 6:00am but never actually departed till 15:00pm. Making the flight 9 hours late from departure, some passengers missed there linked flight. Virgin Atlantic apologise for this delay that occurred.
