Delayed easyJet passengers’ fury after firm offers them two-hour coach journey to hotel for THREE hours’ sleep

Many passengers on an easyjet flight from Milan to Barcelona staged an airport protest after being offered a short hotel stay.

The fed-up travellers were told they would have to endure a two-hour coach journey to the hotel and then they would only be able to have a few hours’ sleep.  If you would like to reclaim compensation for a late flight please see our website.

Passengers protested by sleeping on the floor, in chairs and even on luggage conveyor belts as they waited for their flight to Barcelona, Spain.
The stand-off occurred on Thursday 14th April 2016 after around 200 travellers, realised there was a problem with their flight because the gates did not open for their 7.45pm departure time.

The angry passengers said they were left standing in the queue for an hour before an easyJet member of staff revealed their plane had suffered a damaged wheel when flying in from Spain.  They were then told an alternative plane would be touching down at around 10.30pm and this would be used instead, however at 11pm, they were informed there was a problem with the luggage and after that, it was blamed on crew shortages.

By midnight, most of the fed-up passengers were resigning themselves to having to spend the night in Milan and were told they would be put up in a hotel. But the catch was it would take a two-hour coach journey and they would have to get up before 7am to return to the airport.  This would give them between two and three hours of sleep.  The plane eventually left Milan at 9am on Friday 15th April.
