A child is fighting to recover from what authorities are calling critical injuries after falling from a second story window onto a concrete patio.

The child accident happened at around 12.30pm when emergency services were called where they found the 4-year-old unresponsive but breathing. They observed a large bump on the victim’s forehead and noted a window screen near where the child was found.

Investigators say the child’s family had recently moved to the home and that his parents were upstairs assembling furniture in the bedrooms when the victim fell. They believe the boy had likely been climbing on the sofa and looking out the window when the screen gave way and he fell to the patio below.

The child is said to be recovering from his injuries in hospital.
