A company has been sentenced after a contractor was crushed to death at a construction site.

The accident happened in the early hours of the morning when the bulldozer he was using became bogged down in mud. As he exited the bulldozer, he stood on the platform, the vehicle’s arm then reversed towards him crushing him.

He sadly died at the scene as a result of extensive crush injuries to his chest and upper torso. He was found laying in water behind the bulldozer.

As well as pleading guilty to breaching health and safety regulations, the company was fined £120,000 and ordered to pay £26,473 in costs.
