Subject: Bricklayer falls to his death following accident at work
A house building company has been fined after a brick layer fell to his death from dangerous scaffolding sustaining a work place fatal accident.
The 26 year old died when he fell backwards almost two metres while working on a building site. The building company had allowed untrained men to build the scaffolding, failing to check if it was safe.
The man himself was inexperienced when he was asked to build scaffolding around three houses. On the day of the tragic work place accident the weather was poor and workers should not have been working on the site. The man fell backwards from the end of the unsafe scaffold where there was no guard rail to prevent him falling. The band of bricks he was pulling landed on him, and he died at the scene of his fatal injuries at work.
The company was fined £40,000.
