A warehouse operative was asked to load boxes on to a pallet truck. As the employee knew the boxes would be heavy he asked for help but the supervisor denied his request. As a result, he carried out the task by himself.
He was aware of the manual handling regulations though on the last box he felt a sharp sudden pain in his back. There was nothing seriously wrong with the claimant’s back and he made a full recovery within a few months. The claimant was off work for two months as the injury was not severe.
The claimant was awarded £2,710 for his back injury at work.
He was also entitled to his wages while he was off work.
